Signs

A man and a woman have been dating for ten years. As crazy as it seems. They have yet to marry. Both on the inside really wanted to get married but neither was sure about the other. They were scared they would end their beautiful relationship they had going. Both tried to drop hints but it seemed like no one would pick up on them. So one day the woman told them they should go on a adventure.

They began climbing the mountain, and she remarks how beautiful the mountains are. She would tell him how the mountains made her feel protected and how their beauty outshone anything else on Earth. The man replied with a simple acknowledgement and continued on.

As they continued on. They came across an apple tree. She tells him how during her childhood, she would pick apples on her grandparents little farm. The man replied with a simple acknowledgement and continued on.

Soon enough they came across a river that ran wide through the valley they were in. She tells him how her father and her would always go fishing in the same river every summer for his birthday. The man replied with a simple acknowledgement and continued on.

Next the two came across a pile of rocks. She tells him how her brother and her would always skip rocks across the lake they would go to during the summer. The man replied with a simple acknowledgement and continued on.

Interestingly enough they come across a yellow caution sign, and she freezes. The man doesn't know what's wrong, but she tells him that the color yellow is a dangerous color, and how she got in her first car crash when she accidentally tried to speed through a yellow light. The man replied with a simple acknowledgement and continued on.

As they were making the trip back towards their 1 bedroom apartment, they come across a maze in a corn field nearby. She remarks how she used to love to build mazes as a kid. She would design forts and make sure to create the maze just perfect for all of her parties. The man replied with a simple acknowledgement and continued on.

Finally they were almost home when she spies a little bunny hopping through the forest. It reminds her of Easter. She tells him how she loves Easter, and the egg hunts she would go on as a kid were one of her favorite memories. The man replied with a simple acknowledgement and continued on.

The two end their adventure and walk inside to start cooking up some soup.

There is a brief moment of silence before the woman finally says do you ever appreciate all the small things in life. The man responds back that he does and he would never want to lose her.

There is a brief moment of silence and then he says again can we go on another adventure again. She looks at him blankly. And responds. Do you not understand what I've been telling you this entire time? He gives back a look of confusion. And she asks what were some of things she loved and cherished? He begins listing them out.

Mountains

Apples

River

Rocks

Yellow light

Maze

Easter

The woman stomps with frustration and shouts. Do you still not understand anything you fool? He is completely unaware. She begins to cry and runs out of the apartment. The man doesn't know what he did wrong. He decides to walk back through their entire adventure. For some odd reason he again keeps track of all of the objects that were special to her. However the time between the 5th and 6th object was so long that he accidentally got his spacing thrown off and the list instead looked like this:

Mountains

Apples

River

Rocks

Yellow light

Maze

Easter

He slowly examined his list. Then it hit him. He saw it. The big capital letters jumped from the page. He had wanted to the entire time but the ring he had picked out was so delicate that it needed another day to produce. He wanted to go on the same adventure again the next day. He thought of him foolish for not seeing the little signs all round him. And blames himself for her walking out on him.

However the woman had only gotten so far before she came across a wise man that tells her that no one will ever know what water is worth until the well runs dry. She turns around in a heartbeat, and runs back to the apartment as fast as she can. In hopes that she isn't too late and she can apologize for storming off. When she gets there she realizes that he must have went off somewhere. But there is a little box on the stairs leading up to the apartment. Curious to know what's inside. She opens it up.

When she looks inside the box. She first reads a note which says:

I know your package was not suppose to get her till tomorrow Sir, but we tried to hurry it up and get it to you tonight. We know that you had wanted it for today, and we are very sorry we couldn't make it earlier. I hope all goes well, and I hope that she is the one Sir.
