Why I Wrote You A Love Poem

Why I Wrote You A Love Poem

by Adam Messinger

Roses are Red

Disco is Dead

Rhyming notoriously hurts my head.

I wrote you a poem because

through my cringes and half smiles,

I love

your bean boots and vests.

Not a huge clue as to the identity

of my aforementioned love.

Especially when we attend a school

like this- your mid calfs are white, you're white.

Should it be anonymous?

Nah thats too impersonal.

Morgan Reinmund Barlow

Mobi Dick, Mobar 14

Many names for you but I

prefer: my facebook girlfriend

and life partner.

I wrote you a poem because

it's easier than it looks.

If you press the enter key a bunch

and use descriptive imagery,

you're golden.

But I wrote you a poem because

who else would I write one for?

Who else is always there to FaceTime

(if it's earlier than 9 on a weekday)

or eat meatball subs in bed with me?

Who will hold my sweaty hand while

the fake fire roars and the horror movie

screams above us while we smile.

I wrote you a LOVE poem

because i will always tell you

when you have morning breath

or if you are pulling the tips of your hair.

I wrote you a love poem because

on multiple occasions you have saved

me from an awkward conversation with

Grama or Aunt Sharon and

I bet you didn't even know that!

I wrote you a love poem because i love you.

Shocking right?
